Support
The Supportive Counseling Program
Caring for a child with special needs can be a daunting task that requires intense effort. This type of care can impact all family members and all family relationships. UCP of Central Florida is here to help.
We offer a Supportive Counseling Program to children with developmental disabilities and delays and their families. These services include individual, couples and family counseling to help ease and cope with the mental pressure caused by stressful situations. Counseling services are available by appointment only; if the type of counseling is within the program criteria, the service is free through grants from Orange County government and Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
Other services offered through the Supportive Counseling Program include support groups for women, teenagers and siblings. We also offer parenting classes and trainings for community organizations.
The Supportive Counseling Program is offered at the Downtown Orlando/ Holloway Center and the Pine Hills Center. The Pine Hills Center provides Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) services.

Family Services
UCP of Central Florida offers a variety of services that promote the growth of relationships between UCP staff, families, and the community. Our Family Services Specialists facilitate entrance into UCP of Central Florida programs. Their focus is to empower and equip clients with essential tools needed to maximize their child's level of success. Some our other family services are listed below.
- Family Support and Training Meetings - These trainings are offered free of charge on a rotating schedule. Topics have included behavior training, potty training, encouraging language, and choosing toys for your child with special needs. Childcare will be provided when available. Please check with the appropriate center prior to your meeting date. Family Support and Training Meetings are available at all UCP centers.
- Family Fun Nights - Each Center hosts several Fun Nights throughout the year. These events are a great way to meet and mingle with other families at UCP and in our community. Family Fun Nights are open to everyone and will include light food, games and activities for the children. (i.e. puppet shows, reading, music, etc.)
- Family Spring Festival - Each Spring, UCP sponsors a carnival style celebration at our downtown Holloway Center. Admission is free!
Recreational Services
The purpose of the UCP of Central Florida Recreation Program is to increase the availability of recreation opportunities for children and adults with disabilities and build a more inclusive community. One of our core philosophies is to help create opportunities for all individuals to learn and play together. As part of our Recreation Program, people with disabilities are able to develop new interests and improve their social skills through participation in a variety of activities.
